I was wondering if anyone knew why Hayden/Claire has been wearing a wig in the last few episodes?

Her real hair is significantly shorter than what Claire's is on the show, so for continuity, I suppose they figure long hair Claire is the way to go?

Apparently nobody is allowed to canonly chop their locks. D:

inorite, but Hiro changes his glasses 5 times a show.
26th-Nov-2008 11:24 pm (UTC)
Because she was a bit thick and cut it all off.

Don't ask me why; I've got no idea.
26th-Nov-2008 11:27 pm (UTC)
idk why they don't just make her get extensions cuz you can tell it's a wig which bugs me more than if she'd just cut her hair and had shorter hair as Claire.

Thats whats bothering me. Its SO obvious its a wig. Are there any recent pics of her with the shorter cut? Im all curious now.

Nah, extensions look bad, even if they're good (and expensive!). Just look at Britney.
27th-Nov-2008 09:47 pm (UTC)
They look good on Gossip Girl on Leighton Meester.
26th-Nov-2008 11:37 pm (UTC)
I guess they figured Claire wouldn't have time to cut her hair? lol I have no idea..
27th-Nov-2008 12:43 am (UTC)
Yes, that must be it! XD

Probably for the same reason as the fake eyelashes and the tighter wardrobe... Conformity to what is likely seen as the standard when meant to appeal to a certain target segment of the demographic.
27th-Nov-2008 04:33 am (UTC)
Prob. not fake eyelashes. Mine can be that long with the right mascara. I use clinique curling for base, 1 coat, and then the maximum volume by clinique, 2 coats, and get the same thing XDD.

If they were fake, it's just because they show up better and have a more dramatic effect since she's not one for eyeshadow much. Tighter I think is just to show she was a cheerleader. Now, if she were a bum, they'd probably be loose or not-noticeable, like with Speedster (I just like that nickname) or Monica (I MISS HER. TEARS TEARS TEARS)

Right. Hayden cut her hair a little too short for their liking, I guess and they wanted her hair to stay the same length, simple as that.

I know that on the WB (nee CW) network actresses haven't been allowed to dramatically cut their hair ever since Keri Russell got that disastrous haircut while she was starring on Felicity. Their ratings dropped significantly post-haircut, and they made it an official rule to avoid future incidents.

Maybe NBC has a similar policy?

I remember this. That short hair was horrible. I remember an interview where she said, "It's just hair." I really didn't see why it made such a difference.

I remember when ppl went stupid over Julia Robers dying her hair blonde and not being the red head everyone had fallen in love with.

I bet the same would happen to red head Deborah Messing of Will and Grace and the Starter Wife.

do you actually remember the julia roberts incident or do you just remember hearing about it on vh1? how old are you?

I'm 25 and I remember seeing it on tv

I don't understand why they can't just write a haircut in. They did it with Milo in both seasons one and two.
27th-Nov-2008 01:02 am (UTC)
Probably a double standard since he is a boy *eyeroll*
27th-Nov-2008 04:34 am (UTC)
Hey, Sylar's eyebrows have become tamer and tamer as the show has gone on. =\
27th-Nov-2008 01:03 am (UTC)
Is this a recent thing, this whole Hayden Panetierre wig? I'm still fairly new to the series (only on early episodes of season two at the moment), but she doesn't look like she's wearing a wig to me. If it IS a wig I think extensions would be easier to maintain.

I can see what people are saying, with it being conformist and unfair with her not being allowed to cut her hair, but I think the "long haired Claire" thing is just...well, it's Claire, y'know? Sounds ridiculous, but they might use the hair to show progress as a character? ^^;

Think - S1, she was innocent, somewhat clueless, just learning her abilities (and this applies to Peter as well!). And in FYG she had the short brown hair, she was in hiding.

S2 - She'd just lost Peter, Noah made them all hide in California, so the curls were cut off, the hair was boring and plain. I think Milo was allowed to have the hair cut then because, as he says so himself, S2 was Peter's confused!Peter season.

S3 - The alternative future we see, Claire with long brown hair, again its changed personality, she's darker! And for the season thus far, true you can see it's a wig most of the time - I definitely agree with the extensions comment - but if they were to have it cut short on the show, I just...I don't think it would suit? It's to do with character. :/

Aaaaaand that was me wasting ten minutes of my life justifying hair XDDDDDDDDDD
27th-Nov-2008 12:50 pm (UTC)
I agree with everything you said, i guess Claire just wouldn't be Claire without the long hair, if that makes any sense XD
27th-Nov-2008 02:34 am (UTC)
I dont know why her character can't have shorter hair, it's probably because Hayden looks more like a GROWN UP with the shorter hair and I think it's a good thing for Hayden but for Claire they are trying to keep her younger.

To people wondering why they don't do extensions... it's pretty simple. Extensions damage hair a lot more than a wig does and they are very, very, very time consuming so if she wanted a night out with her actual short hair they would have to cut/pull the extensions off and then the next day they would have to redo all the extensions(which Hollywood hair standards would take around 5-6 hours.)... I think for the show and for Hayden it's just easier and not damaging.
27th-Nov-2008 05:37 am (UTC)
I never thought about the extensions that way. You are probably right.

But it's weird because I've seen her wear extensions on red carpets and such. Like in This picture. I'm assuming she is wearing extensions because I'm pretty sure her natural hair is still way shorter than that. In call the candids I've seen of her though she is always with her real short hair and no extensions or anything. She probably only likes to put them when she is all dolled up for an event since in real life she is pretty casual. So putting them on for the show all the time would get rather annoying since it's a lot of trouble.
27th-Nov-2008 03:54 am (UTC)
maybe Claire's hair would grow back automatically like a haircut would be like a wound. That would have been really funny if her hair all fell off to another lenght because of the eclips. it would make a good excuse no?
27th-Nov-2008 07:40 am (UTC)
omg LOL.
27th-Nov-2008 02:38 pm (UTC)
ICONLOLZ.

That's all.
27th-Nov-2008 08:57 am (UTC)
Would explain why she still had it after the 'Ted almost exploding at the Bennet house' scene in Company Man (S1). LOL.
29th-Nov-2008 02:36 am (UTC)
That's what I was thinking. Claudia in Interview with the Vampire.
27th-Nov-2008 05:40 am (UTC)
Haha, I love your icon!

Crazy Jameees! Good times!
27th-Nov-2008 07:40 am (UTC)
okay my roommate thought I was crazy for saying she's been wearing a wig.

okay so it wasn't just me. *wipes brow.
27th-Nov-2008 09:24 pm (UTC)
I think her shorter hair looks cute, but it is more grown-up for a supposed 17 year old.

Who knows, maybe they will write it into the show. Now that she's been captured, maybe they'll change her looks. They might make her an "agent" like they did Daphne and make her look a little older.
